Blogger Guest Post: Cynthia From Dog-Eared & Bookmarked

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce to you all a great friend of mine in the blogging community, Cynthia from Dog-Eared & Bookmarked. She is very sweet, kind and has a great sense of humor. Oh and did I mention she loves hugs? hehe :). I enjoy reading her reviews and fun weekly memes (Need A Comment? and What’s In The Purse?).

Please check out her blog if you have not done so already!

Cynthia has agreed to guest post on my blog to tell us a little about herself.
Here is her post, enjoy!

Hi everyone, my name is Cynthia, but most people call me Cyndi, I’m 25 years old, and I started blogging April 2010. The road here was quite fast, and incredibly wild. It all started back in 2009 when I used a book application on Facebook to list all the books I’ve read. Later that year, I received an email from a website that used the same book application I did… they wanted me to join their selective reviewing club (I did) and everything else fell into place. Within weeks I had received my first book, reviewed it, and was signed up for another book. I kept this up for about a month before I started hearing about book blogs. Author, Susan Burliner really got me started with blogging. She, and I, became friends on Facebook, and through her status updates I became familiar with the website: Night Owl Reviews. To move the story along, another few weeks passed before I commented on Susan’s blog, and because she loved my comment so much, she sent me a signed copy of her book Dust! I was so excited!
After that, I looked up ways to share my book reviews, discovered blogging was the best way to go, and the rest is history… at least it’s history in the making!
Long story short, I was just beginning to enter the book reviewing world when I created Dog-Eared & Bookmarked, and I hardly ever updated it; well, not until about October 2010. In October, everything changed and I started running with blogging and reviewing. I’ve always loved to read, and write, so it came naturally to me to want to be a book reviewer… in my spare time. To really know me you have to know music is my passion.

A little girl with big music dreams…

Ever since I was three years old, I’ve wanted to play the piano. Music is in me! Right now, I play the piano, violin, and just because it’s awesome, I was in a hand-bell choir for a short time. I’m studying Music Education in college, still take piano lessons, and started teaching piano lessons not too long ago. I love it!

Back to books, I have an eclectic reading mind. I read a lot of different genres, but I’m a total sucker for Romance and Young Adult books. This passion started when I was in High School. Nicholas Sparks became my hero! A Walk to Remember is what started it all. I happened upon it (right about the time the movie came out) and bought it. I loved it, and Sparks, so every new book he wrote I was sure to buy. Also, I credit Luanne Rice with inspiring me to read.
Cloud Nine is one of the first books to make me cry. It deeply touched me.

When I started college, I didn’t read as much; sadly! It wasn’t until the movie Twilight came out (laugh all you want, see if I care!) that I got caught up in the hype and purchased the books. I loved them, and because of them, I became hungry for reading. The series really put a passion for reading back into me. So, thank you: Sparks, Rice, and now Meyer for writing addicting books!
To conclude, I don’t have a favorite book. I love so many of them, but I can say Janice Graham’s novel Sarah’s Window is really special to me. I read it when I was 15 and thought it was a remarkably touching story.
I hope you guys enjoy my blog, I love to read and have a great desire to encourage all ages to put down the television remotes and pick up a book.
