Author Guest Post With Aimee Laine

Aimee Laine has kindly agreed to share her inspiration for her newest release, Surrender (Mimics of Rune #2).

 About The Author:
Aimee is a romantic at heart and a southern transplant with a bit of the accent (but not a whole bunch). She’s married to her high school sweetheart, and with him, she’s produced three native North Carolinians, two of whom share the same DNA.

With an MBA and a degree in Applied Mathematics, there’s absolutely no reason she should be writing romance novels. Then again, she shouldn’t need a calculator to add two numbers, either … but she does.

 Guest Post:

A lot of writers write a whole book before they title it. To me, I don’t even know how they save the file much less write the book. First off, I can’t think about a story without a title and to-date, have not changed a single title of a single book upon reaching the end.

So that begs the question … how do I think of a title and then write the book? Doesn’t that seem backward to the overall project? Wouldn’t it make more sense to write the book and see what the title should be?

One would think, but that’s not how my tricky little brain works. Nope … not one bit. In fact, it’s just the opposite to the point I can’t write without that title.

Not a sentence.

Not a word.

So what do I do?

If a story idea is coming to me, so will the title. I just have to wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Sometimes, it takes a while. Sometimes a long while.

Yes. I wait.

And wait.

And wait.

Sometime during that period of waiting, the title will hit me.

With Surrender, my latest release, the title came long before the ultimate story did. In the Mimics of Rune series, Little White Lies came first. The moment I finished, I knew Surrender would be second, but the story took longer to reach me. Then … half-way through writing Surrender, the title for the final book in the series came to me: Redeemed.

Surrender was the right one. Absolutely. Redeemed, which I have just started writing is the right one, too. It’s perfect. No doubt.

But yes, I had to wait for it to come to me.

  Surrender (Mimics of Rune #2):

Book Title: Surrender (Mimics of Rune #2)
Author: Aimee Laine

Release Date: September 4, 2012

Face the past or look to the future? Both will hurt. One could kill her.

All her life, Lily Crane has supressed her childhood memories, masking the signs of abuse with a variety of looks. From brunette to blonde, tall to short — as a Mimic, changing shape is her gift. Her right. Her achilles heel.

It’s Lily’s latest likeness, chosen simply by accident, which threatens to repeat a history she’s desperate to forget. Worse, she must do so without the one man who takes all her pain away: Cael Aldridge.

Cael has no intention of leaving Lily on her own. He never has. Now, with the woman he loves in the hands of a predator who wants Lily for her genetics, Cael will do everything he can to bring her home.

He can only pray he isn’t too late.
