Title: Kissed by a Dark Prince
Author: Felicity E. Heaton
Publication Date: November 30th 2013
Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
Olivia thinks it’s her lucky night when a dangerously handsome unconscious fae ends up on her inspection table. He’s her chance to redeem herself with her employer, the demon-hunting organisation, Archangel. But when the tall, dark and deadly immortal warrior awakes, she gets much more than she bargained for…
Attacked by his enemy in the elf kingdom, the last thing Prince Loren expects when he comes around is a beautiful angel watching over him and medical technology of the mortal realm. Hazy from his injuries, all he can focus on is the pulse ticking in her throat and the sweet allure of her blood.
One single bite reveals she is his eternal mate, triggering a bond between them that will leave him weakened until it is complete… or broken, and pulling Olivia into the crossfire of his ancient feud.
To protect his people and his mate from the machinations of a madman, Loren must risk everything by working with Olivia at Archangel to find a way to break the bond blossoming between them.
But will Loren be strong enough to place duty before desire and give up the one thing he has waited millennia for and craves above all others—his eternal mate? And will Olivia be able to resist the incredible heat that burns between them and the temptation of her dark prince’s kiss?
There are times when stress in life just gets to you, and in those times it’s books like Kissed by a Dark Prince that are life savers. I was immediately sucked into the book and into Olivia and Loren’s weird twisted world.
This book had everything I could want in a paranormal romance. A strong no-nonsense woman, and a dark elf prince who isn’t interested in finding his mate. What I really enjoyed about this book is how smoothly everything went together. I didn’t feel like there was ever a time when it moved too fast or too slow.
I liked that Loren didn’t know what to do with himself, he had been waiting forever for Olivia (literally, he waited like 4,500 years) but he needed to fix the situation with his brother. His first instinct is to protect Olivia by breaking the bond that they had forged, but he also couldn’t seem to give her up.
Olivia was the perfect amount of damaged, but still functional. She knew she needed to get over her past, but the similarities between Loren and the other person who had hurt her were overwhelming. I did enjoy that both Loren and Olivia had their issues to work through before they could really accept each other, but that in the end they did just that.
This book didn’t break any molds or shatter any pre-conceived notions about romance novels. However, I did really enjoy it and I would give it 4 out of 5 stars because of that. I’m definitely becoming a fan of Felicity E. Heaton and highly recommend her if you love good romance novels.
4/5 – An Enjoyable Read, Well Written
