Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

Winter was a fantastic conclusion to an incredible series. I am having a seriously hard time putting words down to talk about it and make sure that I don’t include any spoilers. It was just a crazy rollercoaster ride, of ‘Everyone’s safe!’ to ‘No one is safe, and they are all going to die’. Marissa Meyer is an exceptional author, and she took this fairytale retelling and took it to a whole new level.

Cinder and her gang go through so much in this book, and there was even a point I had to stop and take a break because the hits just kept on coming and I felt entirely overwhelmed. This author does a fantastic job of creating characters that feel real. I think in part because she has no problem switching point of views to suit the storyline as needed. You may remember that this was something that bothered me in Scarlet however by the time we’ve been through Cress into Winter it’s really important to the plot and I started to really connect with all of the characters.

Princess Winter was a good addition to the story, and I loved her despite her craziness. In fact, I’m pretty sure I loved her character BECAUSE she was crazy. She was a Lunar who didn’t want to use the Lunar gift and therefore was losing her sanity. However she was doing it for the most noble of reasons and despite the pressure it put on the rest of the gang to not have her operating at full capacity I totally understood why she was doing that.

This final installment took me all over Luna and really highlighted why Levana had to go. There were multiple reasons but mostly that she had no idea how her people really lived and she really didn’t care. I’m trying to leave this review spoiler free. So all I will say is it was fantastic from beginning to end and lived up to every expectation I had. 5 out of 5 stars.
