review

This book. This book made me feel everything under the sun. I felt for Fallon most of all, because this girl was handed a steaming pile of crap when she was 16. It wasn’t fair, and while she didn’t handle in a perfectly flawless mature way, she was 16. I liked that this book shows that the decisions you make at that age will stick with you. It’s such a fleeting and temporary time of life, but it has such a huge impact on the rest of it. Fallon and Ben were both scarred by things that happened to them when they were 16, and it plagued the entire story.

I will say that I liked that we only got to catch up with them every year. I think Colleen Hoover did a great job making them the same people we met in the beginning, but also with some maturity and growth. I liked Ben, but his capacity for meanness made me severely dislike him at times. In fact I thought he was an insensitive jerk for most of the book up until the end when he finally really revealed himself. I don’t think it’s Hoover’s strongest showing, for me that’s Ugly Love, but I think this is a solid book that most readers will enjoy. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
