Before I Ever Met You is a contemporary standalone romantic comedy. It does not contain any cheating but does contain lots of sex and swearing.

I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager.

He was handsome, had a beautiful wife and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend.

Fast forward ten years: I’m 25 years old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year old son. I’ve made some mistakes, grappled with my demons and now I’m back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life.

I’ve started by working for my father’s production company as an executive assistant. My first day on the job and I already know I could have a promising career there.
That is until I see Will McAlister for the first time in a decade.

Now recently divorced and as sophisticated as always, Will has gone from being my father’s friend and business partner to something so much more.

We’re both older, for one thing, and he just oozes this worldly confidence and stark sexuality. Combined with his tall, muscular build and sharp suits, strong jaw and bedroom eyes, Will has turned into one hell of a distraction.

A distraction I’m having a hard time staying away from, considering his office is right across from my desk and I work with him in such close proximity.

But it’s just a harmless crush, right?

It’s just an innocent fantasy of screwing him on his desk, right?

It can’t ever be more because he’s my father’s best friend, business partner, and my boss.

Oh goodness. I know it’s probably hard for everyone to see me review another one of Karina Halle’s books because it feels like I’m always reviewing one of them, but don’t you see that’s the great thing! This author writes what she wants to write, because she feels the characters, and that means we always get a strong novel. I may not love EVERY book, but I can at least appreciate them. It’s why I’m always begging readers of the blog to get on this bandwagon! This woman spans genres! Contemporary Romance, Horror, Romantic Suspence, Paranormal Romance, and then there are all the sub-genres of those! Just please pick up one of her books!

This book is a fantastic choice. Jackie is so strong, and so vulnerable, she is just a great character. It’s such an odd sensation of feeling proud of a character, but with as much as Jackie learned and grew in this book, I did. I felt incredibly proud of her for opening up her heart and her life, and taking a second chance. It’s the hardest thing to do, but she did it.

Will was equally as amazing, but he never lost that ability to put himself out there, and that is a miracle. After what he went through with his ex-wife it wouldn’t have been surprising if this had ended up being about two people with their walls up. That’s what made this book such a tender read though, because Will’s walls were down, and he was able to get through Jackie’s barriers because of that. Honestly these two made my heart ache for them, and I was so happy that the drama in this book was relatively small. It didn’t need big dramatic scenes it just needed one heartbreaking moment in an office.

I loved this book, and I know I’ll be re-reading it because I already want too. There are very few books, that end up grabbing me in this way, but I love it. I hope some of you will take a chance on this author because I know you are going to love it. This will now have to be the stick in which all future books are held too, 5 out of 5 stars for taking my breath away!

“We don’t even have to have sex. We can walk the dogs. Watch a movie. Hang out. I’m one hundred percent okay with that.”
“Ninety-seven percent okay with that. And I can jerk off that three percent later.”
