Gina Royal is the definition of average—a shy Midwestern housewife with a happy marriage and two adorable children. But when a car accident reveals her husband’s secret life as a serial killer, she must remake herself as Gwen Proctor—the ultimate warrior mom.

With her ex now in prison, Gwen has finally found refuge in a new home on remote Stillhouse Lake. Though still the target of stalkers and Internet trolls who think she had something to do with her husband’s crimes, Gwen dares to think her kids can finally grow up in peace.

But just when she’s starting to feel at ease in her new identity, a body turns up in the lake—and threatening letters start arriving from an all-too-familiar address. Gwen Proctor must keep friends close and enemies at bay to avoid being exposed—or watch her kids fall victim to a killer who takes pleasure in tormenting her. One thing is certain: she’s learned how to fight evil. And she’ll never stop.

OMG. If you haven’t picked up this book yet, you better run or quickly navigate your way to a bookstore/Amazon. This book was fantastic from beginning to end. Gina just sucked me in to her world, and I was enthralled from the minute I started reading. I couldn’t put this one down, I literally read while I ate dinner with my kindle in my lap, that’s how much I couldn’t put it down.

Gina got the shock of her life and her world came crashing down, when her husband was discovered as a serial killer. After a long drawn out court battle where people assumed she must have helped her husband, she was eventually able to take her kids and turn herself into Gwen Proctor.

Gwen is a tough as nails, take no shit woman. I loved her to bits. She was always ready to flee at a moments notice from the people who wanted to hurt her and her kids just for simply being related to a man who committed horrible crimes. This book was a wild ride, and it had so many twists and turns. I can’t even begin to describe how much psychological trauma that Gwen went through, and pretty much everyone was trying to make this woman insane, and then blame her when she doesn’t want to trust anyone.

There is a surprise at the end of the book, that is clearly setting up book 2(which is just around the corner) but it isn’t like the kind of cliffhanger where I’m waiting to find out if characters are still alive or anything like that. I have to give this book 5 out of 5 stars, it has been a long time since a book sucked me in as much as this one did. If you like mystery/thrillers, then this is the book for you.
